Today,
circumstances around R&D activities are rapidly changing. In order to promote Japan's
R&D activities, R&D evaluations is becoming increasingly important.
Evaluating an R&D
project means to determine the value of the R&D project according to the project
purpose. By making a precise evaluation on the R&D project and examining the quality
of project, more useful R&D activities can be promoted. The evaluation system must be
reviewed and adjusted so that the system can function more effectively for better
understanding, acceptance, and support from Japanese people.
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has also formulated the “Guidelines of
Technical Evaluations of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry” which targets the
ministry's R&D projects and the other R&D projects supported by the ministry. The
guidelines are now functioning to evaluate these projects.
