Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry

Mr. Komori Takuo was appointed Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry on October 22, 2025. In this key role, Mr. Komori will particularly lead the coordination of ongoing government efforts dedicated to the economic revitalization of the Fukushima region. His primary responsibilities also include oversight of Green Transformation (GX) promoting Japan’s drive to transition to a decarbonized society while achieving economic growth. 

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Komori served as a public servant at Japan’s Ministry of Finance, the Financial Services Agency, the National Tax Agency and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). 

Mr. Komori won his first election to the House of Representatives in Ishikawa Prefecture in 2021 and was successfully reelected in 2024. Mr. Komori served as Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications from 2023 to 2024.

Mr. Komori is a graduate of the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Law and received Master of public policy degree at Princeton University. He was born on May 21, 1970, in Kanagawa Prefecture.
