Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry

Mr. Komori Takuo was appointed Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry on October 22, 2025. He was reappointed on February 19, 2026, and concurrently serves as Parliamentary Vice-Minister of the Cabinet Office and Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Reconstruction.
Mr. Komori leads the coordination of ongoing government efforts dedicated to the economic revitalization of the Fukushima region. His responsibilities also include oversight of Green Transformation (GX) promoting Japan’s drive to transition to a decarbonized society while achieving economic growth.

Mr. Komori joins METI from the House of Representatives, where he has represented his constituency in Ishikawa Prefecture. Mr. Komori first won election to the House of Representatives in 2021 and has since successfully been reelected twice. Mr. Komori served as Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications from 2023 to 2024.

Prior to entering the National Diet, Mr. Komori served as a public servant at Japan’s Ministry of Finance, the Financial Services Agency, the National Tax Agency and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Mr. Komori is a graduate of the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Law. He was born on May 21, 1970, in Chiba Prefecture.
