Director-General for Evidence-based Policymaking
MOGI Tadashi
Mr. Mogi has been serving as Director-General for Evidence-based Policymaking since July 2024. In this role, he manages the promotion of rational and evidence-based policymaking. Also, he is strongly committed to preparations for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan by promoting collaboration throughout the Japanese government.
Immediately prior to his current assignment, he served as the Director-General for Commerce and Service Industry Policy. Mr. Mogi was in charge of programs designed to make Japan’s logistics and service industries more efficient. He was also responsible for government initiatives aimed at expanding the availability of cashless transactions; promoting the development of the healthcare industry including biomanufacturing. Additional responsibilities included programs to drive the cultural economics and educational services industries; managing Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan and more.
Previously, Mr. Mogi served as the Director-General of the Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy Department in the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy. During this two-year assignment he oversaw renewable energy, hydrogen strategies, fuel cells, microgrid management, and energy efficiency programs.
Since joining the ministry in 1992, Mr. Mogi Tadashi has served in a wide range of senior roles including as Director of Material Industries Division and Director of Policy Planning Division of the Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy Department in the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Director of the Policy Planning and Coordination Division in the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency, and Director for Technology Affairs and Advanced Capacity Building Strategy in the Minister's Secretariat while also acting as Director of the Crisis Management Unit.
Mr. Mogi graduated from the School of Engineering at Hokkaido University and later completed a degree from the same school's Graduate School of Engineering.
He was born on May 23, 1966, in Shizuoka Prefecture.
