Early warning alert mechanism for disruptions in the semiconductor supply chain (Semiconductor Alert Mechanism)
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has launched an early warning alert mechanism for disruptions in the semiconductor supply chain (Semiconductor Alert Mechanism) to detect potential disruptions at an early stage and support faster resolution of problems through collaboration with other countries and private companies.
Shutdowns of semiconductor manufacturing facilities and related supply chain disruptions can impact production activities across a wide range of industries. The Semiconductor Alert Mechanism provides an information-sharing tool to hear directly from companies and others about such disruptions in the semiconductor supply chain. Companies and other stakeholders can use this tool to share information.
Companies or other stakeholders in possession of any of the following types of information should send it to the email address given below.
(1) Types of information
Information about disruptions (ongoing or potential events) of the semiconductor supply chain, bottlenecks, or other concerns.
Examples: Concerns about the suspension of the company's own factory or those of its business partners, procurement of raw materials, or about overseas corporate activities, etc.
(2) Submission method and destination
Please submit your message to the following email address.
ext-semiconductor-ews@meti.go.jp
The information provided will be shared with countries related to the supply chain resilience in a form that excludes sensitive information related to each company's business, and we will consider countermeasures.
* Information provided to the Semiconductor Alert Mechanism may be shared throughout the Government of Japan (GOJ) or used to inform GOJ outreach to foreign government officials. If any information submitted contains trade secrets or information that should not be shared outside the GOJ, please indicate this in your message.
