The fifth round of negotiations for Japan-Canada Economic Partnership Agreement was held in Tokyo from March 24 to March 28.

  1. The fifth round of negotiations for Japan-Canada Economic Partnership Agreement was held in Tokyo from March 24 to March 28.
  2. The meeting was attended by, on the Japanese side, Mr. Keiichi Katakami, Director-General, Economic Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Chief Delegate) and representatives from other relevant ministries, and on the Canadian side, Mr. Ian Burney, Assistant Deputy Minister for Trade Agreements and Negotiations, Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (Chief Negotiator) and representatives from other relevant departments.
  3. During this round, fruitful discussions were held in areas including Trade in Services, Investment, Intellectual Property and Energy, Minerals and Foods.
  4. The schedule of the next round of negotiations will be determined through diplomatic channels.
