To address this situation, it is necessary to establish a structure for a stable and appropriate supply-demand balance of energy, according to the economic and social environments inside and outside Japan.

In addition, it is also important to make the most of Japanese technology’s strengths to utilize energy optimally as well as to take in the huge global demand for infrastructures, so as to lead to Japan’s dynamic economic growth.

Through uniting public-private efforts, METI has been actively promoting overseas expansion of Smart Community projects so as to take in the overseas economic growth and thereby contribute to Japan’s economy, and has been offering support to develop infrastructures overseas, mainly in emerging countries, which will be bases for economic growth and a safe society in those countries.
