METI to Hold the Second Bike Love Forum (BLF) in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture

On August 22, 2014, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will hold the Second Bike Love Forum (BLF) in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, jointly with motorcycle-related enterprises, industry organizations and local governments, introducing a theme titled “New Challenge from Hamamatsu.”

1. Purpose of the forum

In May 2014, the organizers of the BLF compiled a chart titled “Policy Roadmap concerning the Motorcycle Industry,” setting the year of 2020 as a goal of the policies. The forum will introduce specific initiatives to achieve a common goal among the related industries, which is set in the roadmap, and will provide people from the motorcycle industry with opportunities to discuss issues for seeking a trigger to make the industry gain momentum.

As an event for introducing collaborative efforts of the motorcycle industry with other industries and societies, the forum will invite speakers to the stage who engage in efforts for creating a synergetic effect through collaboration between the motorcycle industry and other industries, and will provide them with opportunities to exchange opinions on how society and motorcycles can exist in harmony and how the industry is able to share the same values with the younger generation and new potential consumers, as subjects of the discussion. These discussions will contribute to further developing the issue on seeking an ideal approach for motorcycles to be loved by society.

The Bike Love Forum (BLF) is an initiative aiming to create a world-class, outstanding motorcycle culture, and revitalize and promote the motorcycle industry. Placing motorcycle-related enterprises, associations, local governments and other entities at the core, the forum provides related people, jointly with users, with opportunities to earnestly discuss how motorcycles have been acknowledged and accepted by society, what the ideal ways are for them to exist in harmony with society, and how they will be in the future. The first BLF was held in Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture, in September 2013.
