Joint Press Release with the Ministry of FinanceExtension of Period of Anti-Dumping Duty Investigation on Toluenediisocyanate Originating in the People’s Republic of China

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Finance (MOF) have extended the period of the investigation on the anti-dumping duties on Toluenediisocyanate* originating in the People’s Republic of China.

1. Background

METI and MOF have jointly conducted an investigation since February 14, 2014, to determine whether or not to impose an anti-dumping duty on the subject products.**

*1: Toluenediisocyanate is a transparent liquid, mainly used as a raw material for polyurethane flexible foams, which are applied to car seats, bedding, and other articles.
**2: The ministries started the joint investigation on February 14, 2014, in response to an application filed by a domestic producer requesting the imposition of an anti-dumping duty on the products. In principle, investigations are to be concluded within one year of their initiation, However the period may be extended if necessary.

2. Details of the extension

Both ministries decided to extend the investigation period for four months until June 13, 2015, so as to further examine the evidence submitted by interested party (public notice on February 12, 2015).
