METI to Hold Japan Content Showcase 2015-International Video, Music and Animation Fairs to be Jointly Held in Odaiba, Tokyo-

From October 20 (Tue.) to 22 (Thu.), 2015, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will hold Japan Content Showcase 2015 (JCS2015), which is an event combining cross-field international fairs for video, music and animation content in Odaiba, Tokyo.

1. Outline

Japan Content Showcase (JCS) is one of the core events of the CoFestaø, which is an international fair focused on content such as video (film and TV programs), music and animation. JCS not only intensively demonstrates the attractiveness of the content of our country to the world, but also aims to further enhance dissemination of the content in coordination with other industries and promote overseas expansion of the entire content industry.

* CoFesta (Japan International Content Festival) is a project aimed to help the content industry including games, anime, manga, character mascots, broadcasting, music, and films, all of which Japan presents to other countries with pride and other industries closely related to the content industry including fashion and design publicize the works of Japanese creators which have been exhibited at various events. 2. Features of Japan Contest Showcase 2015

(1) Matching support to help spread Japan’s content internationally

JCS2015 will provide a variety of business matching services to help promote the expansion of international business and distribute Japan’s content to other countries and regions in the world.

At the business meeting venue of JCS2015, business matching events will be held to bring exhibitors into contact with buyers of video and music invited by Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

In addition, the “India-Japan Licensing and Character Business Matching Event” will be held to help industries related to licensing, character marketing businesses in India and Japanese companies establish business connections. Business matching services will be provided also for Japanese animation production companies and visitors.

(2) Seminars on the current content industry

Seminars will be held on topics which attract attention in the content industry with people who are working on the front lines in the content industry as speakers.

For example, at “The Visible Near Future of the Streaming Video Market” which is a seminar on the video streaming business and “Future prospects of the music streaming services in the Japanese market” which is a seminar on the music streaming business, relevant persons in content streaming services, which has lately expanded its market size, will discuss its future prospects.

In addition, a variety of information will be provided, focused on the international expansion of Japanese content, including cooperative production of content, dissemination of regional content, utilization of animation content etc.,.
