Japan Sports Agency and METI to Hold the First Meeting of the Sports Development Council- Toward the reinvigoration of the sports industry -

The Japan Sports Agency and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) have jointly established the Sports Development Council and are to hold its first meeting as below.

1. Objective

As the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games approach, it is expected that consumer and investor sentiment will pick up among the people and private companies, and overseas interest in Japan will grow. In order to take full advantage of this opportunity to reinvigorate the sports industry, the Council aims to formulate a policy strategy to proceed with strategic efforts in Japan’s sports business in light of prospects for 2020 and beyond, through discussions among experts from different fields

2. Date

From 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., February 2 (Tue.), 2016
* The Japan Sports Agency and METI are to hold meetings of the Council about once a month, and the Council is to compile a report by May or June 2016.

3. Venue

Special Conference Room No. 2, 3rd floor, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (3-2-2, Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo)
