Announcement of the Winners of the Second Nippon Venture Awards

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) hereby announces that it has selected the winners of the Nippon Venture Awards, which are a part of the Prime Minister’s Awards. These awards are to honor venture businesses that have a positive social impact. On February 26, 2016, Prime Minister Abe and METI Minister Hayashi granted the winners certificates of merit at the Prime Minister’s Office.

1. Outline of the program

This program aims to recognize and honor outstanding venture businesses for their creation of new businesses that have positive social impact and which serve as role models for young people who will be responsible for the next generation and for entrepreneurs. Similarly, it seeks to disseminate the significance of these positive, bold efforts, and to increase society’s esteem for entrepreneurs, thereby inspiring society to take on challenges with eagerness and confidence.

Eighty-seven promising venture businesses applied for the Second Nippon Venture Awards. The examining committee, composed of experts and members of the Venture Business Creation Council, for which METI acts as the secretariat, selected the winners of the Prime Minister’s Award, the METI Minister’s Awards, and the Special Jury Awards.
