The Fourth Japan- Arab Economic Forum to be held

The Fourth Japan-Arab Economic Forum will be held on May 4 and 5, 2016, in Casablanca, the Kingdom of Morocco.

1. Outline of the forum

The Japan-Arab Economic Forum was established as a framework for a public-private dialogue by uniting efforts of the Japanese and Arab-states’ governments and business communities for the purpose of further enhancing the economic relationship between Japan and Arab states through cooperation in a wide range of areas including trade, investment, energy, science and technology, and human resource development.
Recently, Arab states have been endeavoring to diversify their economies and industries as their major challenge, and the forum will provide a significant opportunity for Japan to enhance economic cooperation with Arab states.

2. Date and venue of the forum

  1. Date: From Wednesday, May 4, to Thursday, May 5, 2016
  2. Location: Casablanca, the Kingdom of Morocco

3. Structure of the forum and expected participants

  1. On the Japanese side, high-level officials and people from the public and private sectors, including the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and Keidanren, will attend the forum.
  2. On the Arab side, ministers concerned from the LAS member countries and heads of economic associations, including the chambers of commerce across the LAS, will attend the forum.

Details of the forum, including programs and how to apply for participation, will be announced on the website of Japan Cooperation Center for the Middle East (JCCME) soon.
