METI Minister Seko Visits Russia
From September 2 (Fri.) to 3 (Sat.), 2016, Mr. Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, visited Vladivostok, the Russian Federation. He attended the Japan-Russia Summit and other meetings, and also held meetings with H.E. Mr. Yury Petrovich Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. Alexander Galushka, Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East, H.E. Mr. Alexei Ulyukayev, Minister of Economic Development, H.E. Mr. Igor Shuvalov, First Deputy Prime Minister, and other officials.
1. Meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Trutnev and Minister Galushka (night of September 2)
Minister Seko expressed his congratulations on the success of the Eastern Economic Forum to Deputy Prime Minister Trutnev, the person in charge of the forum, while Deputy Prime Minister Trutnev expressed his congratulations on the appointment of Minister Seko as Minister for Economic Cooperation with Russia and expressed his positive expectations for Minister Seko in this role. Both sides then exchanged views on specific approaches to industrial vitalization and development of export bases in the Far East region, which is one part of the cooperation plan with eight points Japan presented to Russia concerning fields of cooperation.

2. Meeting with Minister Ulyukayev (morning of September 3)
Minister Ulyukayev expressed his congratulations on the appointment of Minister Seko as Minister of Japan-Russia Economic Cooperation and also expressed his positive expectation for Minister Seko in this role. In addition, Minister Seko and Minister Ulyukayev concluded a Memorandum concerning the Creation of Platforms for Cooperation in the Field of Mid-ranking companies and Small and Medium Enterprises, as one of the efforts advanced in the field of SME exchange, a goal set in the cooperation plan with eight points. Following this, both sides exchanged views on specific approaches to the proposal.

3. Meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister Shuvalov (morning of September 3)
First Deputy Prime Minister Shuvalov offered his congratulations on the appointment of Minister Seko as Minister of Japan-Russia Economic Cooperation and expressed his positive expectation for Minister Seko in this role. Following this, both sides exchanged views on specific approaches to the cooperation plan with eight points.
