The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) decided to establish a Task Force for Overseas Expansion Strategies under the Long-term Global Warming Countermeasures Platform. The task force will hold its first meeting on September 16, 2016. Aiming to curb greenhouse gas emissions on a long-term basis extending beyond 2030, the task force will discuss approaches that contribute to curbing world-wide greenhouse gas emissions, taking advantage of Japanese technologies and knowledge.

1. Outline

The COP21 Decision in December 2015 invites Parties to communicate, by 2020, mid-century, long-term low greenhouse gas emission development strategies.

Among the issues presented in the platform, the task force will discuss approaches that contribute to curbing world-wide greenhouse gas emissions, taking advantage of Japanese technologies and knowledge, and seeking to streamline the issues.
