Announcement of Winners of the FY 2016 Awards for Resources Recirculation Technologies and Systems
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) hereby announces that the winners of the FY 2016 Awards for Resources Recirculation Technologies and Systems have been determined. METI is a supporter of this program. A commendation ceremony will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016, at Kikai Shinko Kaikan, starting at 10:00 a.m. Following the ceremony, winners will make presentations on their achievements.
1. Purpose and summary
This awards program was launched in 1975, with the aim of extensively calling for and recognizing outstanding projects and efforts by companies and other industrial groups with excellent technologies that contribute to waste reduction, reuse and recycling, thereby encouraging and fostering such efforts and creating new business. The program is organized by the Japan Environmental Management Association for Industry (JEMAI; Corporate number: 7010005008147), with the support of METI.
2. Entries and examination
JEMAI started accepting entries in January 2016 by sending application guidance to municipal governments, chambers of commerce and industry, and major industry associations across Japan, while also making the guidance available on its website. During the entry period, which ended on April 18, 2016, JEMAI received 14 entries from a variety of areas in Japan.
The examination committee of experts (chairman: Takashi Nakamura, professor, Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials, Tohoku University) examined the entries and chose the winners of the METI Minister’s Award, the Award of the Director-General of the Industrial Science and Technology Policy and Environment Bureau, the JEMAI Chairman’s Awards, the Encouragement Awards, and the Rare Metal Recycling Awards.

A commendation ceremony will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016, at Kikai Shinko Kaikan (3-5-8 Shibakoen, Minato Ward, Tokyo), starting at 10:00 a.m. Following the ceremony, winners will make presentations on their achievements.
