The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will hold a symposium titled “From Japan to the Rest of the World!: Cultivating Sales Channels to Overseas Countries Utilizing Japan’s Agriculture-Commerce-Industry Collaboration - a Symposium for Establishing Global Value Chains.” Aiming to further promote the exports of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products and other foods through the utilization of agriculture-commerce-industry collaboration, the symposium will provide participants with information on current challenges that related businesses are facing on-site, on measures for solving such challenges, and on contributing to supportive actions therefor, by inviting people from companies engaging in pioneering efforts, experts and individuals with experience in the field to make presentations in their fields of expertise.

1. Purpose

Japan is aiming to enhance its international competitiveness in the fields of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products and other foods and to further revitalize regional economies through the expansion of business. To achieve these goals, it is necessary for Japan to share challenges that the agricultural, forestry, and fishery industries face in the respective phases of production, processing, distribution and sales in the product-export process and also to share solutions or know-how regarding these problems.

To this end, the symposium will provide an opportunity for participants to share information on challenges that related businesses are facing on-site and on measures for solving such challenges by inviting experts and experienced persons in this field to make presentations in their fields of expertise. Through this effort, METI will aim to spread successful business models used by next-generation businesses in the agricultural, forestry, and fishery industry and it also aims to contribute to increasing the number of businesses that will attempt to development their businesses overseas.
