Speakers at the LNG Producer-Consumer Conference 2017 Determined Global Platform for LNG Market Development

On October 18, 2017, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC) will hold the LNG Producer-Consumer Conference 2017. METI hereby announces that speakers and other details of the program of the conference are determined.

1. Outline and purpose

In recent years, as the environment surrounding the field of LNG has been dramatically changing, the trade in LNG is expected to continue to be revitalized and expanded. Since the inauguration in 2012, the conference has been annually held as a platform on which LNG producers and consumers are able to share a long-term forecast of the LNG supply and demand, and to collaborate in committing to making trade markets transparent. At the previous conferences, over 1,000 people each time, from 30 countries and areas, have come together and proactively discussed the actions that LNG producers and consumers should take to overcome challenges that the LNG markets are facing and to establish more transparent and sustainable markets.

At the 2017 conference, participants will reflect the current changes seen in the LNG markets and the importance of appropriate future development of the markets and will share the recognition concerning the latest trends among both producers and consumers involved in the LNG markets. Based on such reflection and recognition, they will further deepen the discussions toward the development of stable, competitive and flexible LNG markets.
