METI Minister Seko Attends the Third Japan-China CEO and Former Senior Officials’ Dialogue and Delivers Speech (Outline of the Results)

On December 5, 2017, the Third Japan-China CEO and Former Senior Officials' Dialogue(Japan-China CEO and Officials Summit)organized by the Keidanren(Japan Business Federation)and the China Center for International Economic Exchanges(CCIE)was held in Tokyo. This dialogue brought together approximately 50 participants from Japan, including Mr. Yasuo Fukuda, former Prime Minister, Mr. Sadayuki Sakakibara, Chairman, Keidanren, business owners of Keidanren member companies, and approximately 30 participants from China, including Mr. Zeng Peiyan, former Vice Premier of the State Council and business owners of major companies in China. Participants exchanged views concerning promoting exchanges and challenges common to the economic communities of both countries. Mr. Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended the plenary session of the dialogue and delivered a speech.

Outline of the speech

Minister Seko delivered a speech on the importance of Japan-China cooperation in achieving improvements to global business environments and in advancing specific efforts for business cooperation in third party countries under the existing international trade frameworks, such as RCEP and WTO. Moreover, he encouraged participants to join the Subcommittee for Market Cooperation in Third Party Countries, a new organization to be established at the 11th Japan-China Energy Conservation and Environment Forum scheduled to be held on December 24, 2017.
