On October 9, 2018, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will hold the first Well Aging Society Summit Asia-Japan, an international conference aiming to encourage investors, companies and other entities inside and outside Japan to form cooperative international relationships to develop solutions to challenges faced by the healthcare industry.
Meanwhile, many healthcare-related events will be held from October 9 to 19 in Japan. In order for these events to collaborate with each other effectively, PR, METI decided to collectively name the events as a new brand titled “Healthcare Innovation Weeks Asia-Japan 2018.” Taking this opportunity, METI and other organizers will convey information on these healthcare-related events using this brand aiming to show that Japan is attracting a lot of global attention in the field of healthcare.
1. Background and purpose
For two weeks starting from October 9, 2018, many healthcare-related events will be held in Japan. In order for these events to collaborate effectively conduct effective PR, METI decided to collectively name the events as a new brand titled “Healthcare Innovation Weeks Asia-Japan 2018.” Through intensive information conveyance at these events, METI will encourage these events to attract many visitors from across Japan and overseas, as well as to stimulate investment in the healthcare business. Moreover, these events will convey to visitors to these events the fact that many companies in the field of healthcare have placed their business bases in Japan and are advancing in outstanding services and R&D, aiming to show Japan’s presence in the field to the rest of the world.
Furthermore, METI expects that these events will become a good opportunity to: construct international cooperation ties that may bring about matching between worldwide innovations and demand in Japan, a bridge for creating solutions to challenges that the healthcare industry faces; and create a new unique and effective healthcare industry, and that the outcomes of this effort will contribute to elongation of the healthy lifespan of people not only in Japan but also worldwide.
