You're invited! "Countdown Showcase" to be Held on Japan's Cutting-edge Technologies of the Future
September 19, 2018
In collaboration with the All Japan Business Committee, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will hold an exhibition titled “Countdown Showcase,” with the theme of “developing an environment in which all people can experience comfortable daily lives without undo barriers and offering science and technology solutions toward achieving a society in which diversified people can play active roles.” The exhibition will bring together cutting-edge technologies that will pave the future of Japan.
1. Outline of the exhibition
As Japan will host the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, a large number of overseas tourists are expected to visit Japan in 2020. With this in mind, METI will hold the exhibition, bringing together cutting-edge Japanese technologies that will pave the future of the nation, and will convey information on such technologies to the rest of the world. The first Countdown Showcase in 2017 welcomed over 2,000 visitors, and the second one in 2018 is expected to bring in more visitors than the previous year, including stakeholders from overseas embassies in Japan, industrial players, elected officials, and heads of government ministries and agencies. Simulating a series of stories that overseas visitors may experience in certain situations of “immigration,” “city transportation,” “in cities,” “game watching” and “travel in regions,” the exhibition will provide visitors with a precious opportunity to experience advanced Japanese technologies that may be implemented in society by 2020. METI warmly invites all people who are interested in the future of society and technology to visit the exhibition.
