From October 8 (Mon.) to 10 (Wed.), 2018, Mr. Yoshihiro Seki, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, visited Paris, the French Republic. He attended a Forum on Japan’s Proposal for Hosting the 2025 World Expo (Expo 2025) and delivered a speech on Japan’s efforts for hosting the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Kansai Region to encourage the member countries of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) to support Japan.
1. Forum on Japan’s Proposal for Hosting the 2025 World Expo
In order to win broad support for Japan’s bid to host the Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai Region, Japan held a forum titled “International Forum on Co-Creation for the UN SDGs ”Designing Future Society for Our Lives”” at Maison de la Culture du Japan a Paris, France, to explain the theme that it has proposed to the BIE.
Through a panel discussion and speeches by experts concerning Japan’s candidature, Japan drew the attention of the BIE member countries to the importance of the theme. State Minister Seki delivered a speech and explained that Japan will aim to hold an exposition contributing to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to “co-create” a new exposition with participants worldwide. He also called the attention of the BIE member countries to Osaka, Kansai, the scheduled site, as a safe, secure, and comfortable.
2. Reception organized by the government of Japan
In the evening of October 9, 2018, the Government of Japan held a reception. Japan called the attention of participating Delegates of the BIE member countries and other dignitaries to Japan’s exposition vision and to the attractiveness of Osaka, Kansai Region.
