METI Minister Seko Holds Meeting with H.E. Mr. Xie Zhenhua, Special Representative on Climate Change Affairs, the People’s Republic of China

On October 11 (Thur.), 2018, Mr. Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Xie Zhenhua, Special Representative on Climate Change Affairs, China, during Mr. Zhenhua’s visit to Japan.
At the meeting, both sides confirmed the importance of promoting innovation in the fields of energy and environment to solve the challenges related to climate change, and advancing international cooperation in and sharing knowledge on new technologies to implement the Paris Agreement. Following this, they agreed to strengthen collaboration between Japan and China in the fields of energy and environment.
Moreover, Minister Seko affirmed that Japan and China will deepen cooperation for the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Energy Transitions and Global Environment for Sustainable Growth, which is scheduled to be held on June 15 and 16, 2019, under the chairmanship of Japan.
