The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has selected winners of the FY2018 METI Minister Award to Recognize Contributions to Traditional Craft Industries, and hereby announces the outline of the results.
The presentation ceremony will be held during the National Convention Commemoration of the 35th All-Japan Daily Commodity Crafts Exhibition to be held on November 1 (Thurs.), 2018, from 1:30 p.m., at ACROS Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefecture.
1. METI Minister Award to Recognize Contributions to Traditional Craft Industries
This award program was established in 1984, with the aim of fostering the wider use of traditional craft products in the lives of the public and motivating people who are engaged in traditional craft industries, by recognizing individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the development of Japan’s traditional craft industries.
2. Winners under the FY2018 program
After a strict examination of candidates by the examination committee of external experts, 51 individuals were selected as winners under the FY2018 program for their significant contributions to the promotion of traditional craft industries.
The winners will be recognized and receive their awards during the National Convention Commemoration of the 35th Traditional Craft Products Month National Assembly to be held on November 1 (Thur.), 2018, from 1:30 p.m., at ACROS Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefecture.
