The 12th Meeting of the Japan-Qatar Joint Economic Committee Held

On October 23 (Tue), 2018, the 12th Meeting of the Japan-Qatar Joint Economic Committee was held in Tokyo.

From the Japanese side, Mr. Hiroshige Seko, Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry, Mr. Kenji Yamada, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs and officials from relevant ministries, along with H.E. Dr. Mohammed Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and other Qatar officials participated in the meeting.

Both sides exchanged views concerning stable LNG supply to Japan and other issues in the energy field, as well as non-energy fields such as industry and trade.

Following the meeting, a memorandum of understanding concerning overseas power generation and energy infrastructure was concluded between Nebras Power Q.S.C., and JERA Co., Inc.

Japan-Qatar Joint Economic Committee is a ministerial-level committee co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, and the Minister of Energy and Industry of Qatar. In order to create a multi-tiered economic relationship between the two countries, the committee was established with the aim of enhancing trade and investment; creating a closer relationship in the energy field; and facilitating private exchange. The First Meeting of the committee was held in 2016.
