Series of Forums on Agriculture-Manufacturing-Logistics Collaboration for Sixth Industrialization to be Held

October 29, 2018

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) will hold a series of Forums on Agriculture-Manufacturing-Logistics Collaboration for Sixth Industrialization in nine cities across Japan.

1. Purpose

Japan has been advancing efforts involving agriculture-manufacturing-logistics collaboration and the Sixth Industrialization concept*, in order to encourage rural regions, where agriculture, forestry, and fisheries industries are the main livelihoods, to create new income sources and employment to achieve revitalization from within. Based on this initiative, METI and MAFF have been implementing support measures for SMEs and people engaged in agriculture, forestry and fisheries.

METI started another supporting program under the FY2018 Project for Promoting Agriculture-Manufacturing-Logistics Collaboration, and under this project, it has been encouraging SMEs and people engaged in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries industries to collaborate in an organic manner and has been supporting them in making effective use of their own business resources.

As part of these efforts, MAFF and METI will jointly hold a series of Forums on Agriculture-Manufacturing-Logistics Collaboration and Sixth Industrialization in nine cities across Japan, aiming to further promote efforts involving agriculture-manufacturing-logistics industry collaboration for the sixth industrialization.

Note:
The Sixth Industrialization is a concept which is meant to comprehensively and integrally promote agriculture, forestry, and fisheries as primary industry, the manufacturing industry as secondary industry, and the retail business as tertiary industry, and to generate new added value utilizing regional resources.
