Third Meeting of Joint Team for Promoting Exports of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Products and Foods Held

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) held the third meeting of the Joint Team for Promoting Exports of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Products and Foods, and discussed the following issues: (i) Publication of the Guidebook for Export Support Measures; (ii) Enhancement and centralization of JETRO's consultation services on export; (iii) Current situation and progress of collaboration between Regional Agricultural Administration Offices and Regional Bureaus of Economy, Trade and Industry; (iv) Current situation and achievements concerning export utilizing e-commerce (EC); and (v) Digitalization of application and issuance procedures of certificates of origin.

1. Publication of the Guidebook for Export Support Measures

In line with the policy confirmed at the preceding meeting, the Guidebook for Export Support Measures, which enables businesses to check all export support measures taken by METI and MAFF, was formulated and publicized on the websites of both ministries.

2. Enhancement and centralization of export consultation services

The joint team confirmed that consultations concerning export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and foods are to be integrally dealt with by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and a leaflet "JETRO General Export Consultation Offices" was prepared to inform local businesses of that fact and introduce available offices.

3. Current situation and progress of collaboration between Regional Agricultural Administration Offices and Regional Bureaus of Economy, Trade and Industry

At the preceding meeting, the joint team decided to strengthen collaboration between Regional Agricultural Administration Offices and Regional Bureaus of Economy, Trade and Industry for facilitating export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and foods. At this meeting, the joint team ascertained the current status and progress of related efforts and reconfirmed the policy to further accelerate collaboration.

4. Current situation and achievements concerning export utilizing e-commerce (EC)

METI gave a briefing on the support it offers together with JETRO for export utilizing e-commerce (EC).

5. Digitalization of application and issuance procedures of certificates of origin

METI gave a briefing on the digitalization of application and issuance procedures of certificates of non-preferential origin, which has been advancing by the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
