From June 12 (Tue.) to 14 (Thur.), 2018, Mr. Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, visited Paris, the French Republic. He attended the 163rd BIE General Assembly and made a presentation for the bid to host the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, to attract the attention of BIE member countries for winning their support.
1. Outline of the presentation
Minister Seko made a presentation at the 163rd General Assembly of the BIE. Before the member countries, he described Japan’s passion for hosting the World Expo 2025 and its potential to do so in a way that would contribute meaningfully to the rest of the world. In so doing, he not only explained Japan’s wealth of experience in hosting such events in the past, but also the government’s commitment to the exposition in general, as well as its support measures for participating countries from developing economies.
2. Official reception party organized by Japan
Japan held an official reception party at the Residence of the Japanese Ambassador to France in order to further communicate Japan’s vision for the World Expo 2025 to participating governmental representatives of BIE member countries and other dignitaries.
3. Bilateral meeting with Mr. Vincente Gonzalez Loscertales, Secretary General of the BIE
Minister Seko held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Vincente Gonzalez Loscertales, Secretary General of the BIE. Both sides exchanged views for Japan’s hosting of the exposition, and Minister Seko explained the significance of holding the exposition in Japan.
