Workshop Titled “Front Line of Companies in the Kansai Region” to be Held in Tokyo

Event subtitled "Key persons in Kansai, a vital and increasingly active region, meet in Tokyo to convey the region's attractiveness"

On February 26 (Tue.), 2019, the Kansai Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will hold a workshop titled “Front Line of Companies in the Kansai Region: Key persons in Kansai, a vital and increasingly active region, meet in Tokyo to convey the region’s attractiveness” in Shimbashi, Minato Ward, Tokyo. This event will target college students and company employees in the Kanto region (centered around Tokyo) and aim to convey the attractiveness of the Kansai region to them so as to encourage them to search for first jobs or new jobs, start new businesses, or establish additional bases in the Kansai region by shifting their target search areas from the Kanto region (centered around Tokyo) to the Kansai region, taking the opportunity of the coming 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Kansai.

3. Future actions

Targeting participants in the workshop, the Kansai Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry will distribute questionnaire surveys or conduct on-site interviews and will compile opinions of college students and employees in the Tokyo area concerning the attractiveness of the Kansai region and the current situation of business environments. Based on this outcome, the Kansai Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry will take the outcome into consideration in future efforts to attract people’s attention to the Kansai region. Moreover, it will inform municipalities and related organizations in the region of the outcomes to contribute to creating activities for encouraging human resources in the Kanto region (centered around Tokyo) to find new jobs in the Kansai region, including those who wish to move anew, or return to or close to their original hometowns in the region. Additional activities will be conducted to attract companies in the Kanto region (centered around Tokyo) to the Kansai region.

Note: The term “Front Line of Companies in the Kansai Region” refers to the title of a series of reports issued by the Kansai Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry, featuring challenges that companies in the Kansai region are facing, future directions of such companies and attractive business environments in the region.
