METI Minister Seko Visits the Russian Federation

From January 20 (Sun.) to 22 (Tue.), 2019, Mr. Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry and Minister for Economic Cooperation with Russia, visited Moscow, the Russian Federation. He attended a Japan-Russia summit meeting and held meetings with H.E. Mr. Maksim Oreshkin, Minister of Economic Development and Special Representative for Trade and Economic Cooperation with Japan, and H.E. Mr. Denis Valentinovich Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade, Russia.

1. Meeting with Minister Oreshkin (January 21)

As preparation for the Japan-Russia summit meeting on the following day, the two ministers confirmed the progress in the Eight-point Cooperation Plan and agreed that Japan and Russia will continue to hold discussions to further consolidate Japan-Russia economic ties and expand trade and investment.

2. Meeting with Minister Manturov (January 21)

The two ministers held discussions on Japan-Russia cooperation in industry. In addition, they confirmed achievements in cooperation projects progressing under the Eight-point Cooperation Plan, such as the project being undertaken to determine the productivity of Russian companies that takes advantage of Japan’s knowhow and experience and the project for advancing human resources development in supporting industries, and agreed to continue advancing these efforts.
