Agency for Natural Resources and Energy
The Agency for Natural Resources and Energy (ANRE) established a new office named the “Carbon Recycling Promotion Office” aiming to promote technological innovations involving capture, storage and utilization of carbon dioxide.
Global society needs to seek all technological options to achieve dramatic reduction of carbon dioxide emissions associated with the utilization of fossil fuels by 2050. Technologies involving capture, storage and utilization of carbon dioxide are considered one of the future’s most promising options and innovations for these technologies are indispensable.
In light of this, ANRE considers the concept of carbon recycling as recognizing carbon dioxide as a source of carbon, capturing and recycling it as carbon compounds in industries, then utilizing it as fuel or a raw material or even in the growing of vegetables. And in its process, finding more efficient methods of capturing and utilizing carbon dioxide and committed to curbing carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere in parallel with making a reasonable balance with the economy. In order to effectively promote innovations of technologies concerning carbon recycling, ANRE hereby established the Carbon Recycling Advancement Office under the Commissioner’s Secretariat of ANRE.
