The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) held the FY2018 Global Coordinators Conference, an effort involving the Global Network Council Japan (GNCJ), as an opportunity in which “global coordinators” meet, and, while taking into account global trends, offer opinions on and proposals for the activities tackled by GNCJ and the measures taken by the government for supporting core, regional companies.
1. Outline of GNCJ
In collaboration with the Cabinet Secretariat, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and other related ministries and agencies, METI launched GNCJ in FY2016, aiming to support regional companies in developing business overseas and advancing other efforts. Since then, as an effort of GNCJ, “global coordinators,” a group of Japan’s top runners playing a leading role worldwide in a variety of fields, and the standing secretariat of GNCJ have been supporting companies through efforts such as designing strategies for commercialization of approximately 200 projects per year and taking approaches to cultivating sales channels.
