On March 15 (Fri.), 2019, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will hold a public briefing on the results of demonstration research for intersystem coordination between the common EDI (electronic data interchange) system for SMEs (SME Standard EDI) and the Zengin EDI System (ZEDI) designed by the Japanese Bankers Association (abbreviated name is “Zengin” in Japanese). This research aims to develop an environment in which SMEs can implement their accounting operations more efficiently.
1. Outline of this research
To achieve productivity improvement of SMEs involving their business transactions and payment operations, it is considered effective for SMEs to embark on data collaboration and utilization concerning information on transaction distributions or payment through EDI systems.
To this end, METI conducted demonstration research for intersystem coordination between the SME Standard EDI, a foundation for inter-SMEs e-commerce (transaction distributions), and ZEDI, a payment foundation the operation of which started from the end of 2018. Through this coordination, METI examined approaches to making business operations more efficient, for e.g., management of accounts receivable reconciliation.
