METI Starts Accepting Provisional Registration of Cashless Settlement Businesses under the Point Reward Project for Consumers using Cashless Payment

March 12, 2019

On March 12, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) started accepting the provisional registration of cashless settlement businesses participating in the Point Reward Project for Consumers using Cashless Payment.

1. Outline

The Point Reward Project for Consumers using Cashless Payment, incorporated in the FY2019 government budget draft, is a subsidy program for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and micro enterprises that wish to issue point rewards for consumers using cashless payment. This project will be effective for a certain period after the consumption tax rate hike on October 1, 2019, with an aim to level demand. This project also aims to improve productivity of relevant businesses and to increase the convenience of consumers through further dissemination of cashless settlement.

For the smooth implementation of the project, METI started accepting the provisional registration of cashless settlement businesses interested in participating in this project. (*This project will be implemented when the FY2019 budget is passed through the Diet.)

METI will accept registrations from March 12 to 20, 2019. Please confirm below for further details.
