The Liaison Conference for Acceptance of Foreign Human Resources with Specified Skills in the Manufacturing Industry Holds its First Meeting

On April 1, 2019, the acceptance of foreign human resources with specified skills will start under the entry into force of the Revised Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act. In order to appropriately accept such human resources in accordance with the Act, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) held the first meeting of the Liaison Conference for Acceptance of Foreign Human Resources with Specified Skills in the Manufacturing Industry, with attendance of Mr. Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Mr. Akimasa Ishikawa, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

1. Outline of the meeting

The conference aims to share useful information for appropriate acceptance and protection of foreign human resources and to facilitate further collaboration between participants.

At the first meeting of the conference, with the coming enforcement of the Revised Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act on April 1, 2019, in mind and aiming for Japan’s appropriate advancement of the acceptance of foreign human resources with specified skills, participants received a briefing from personnel of the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) in charge of the System for Acceptance of Foreign Human Resources with Specified Skills, who shared information on outstanding efforts taken by three sectors that intend to accept such human resources.
