Under the FY2017-FY2020 Comprehensive Physical Distribution Policy, a policy approved by the Cabinet on July 29, 2017, METI formulated a Program for Advancing the Comprehensive Distribution Policy on January 31, 2018. The Comprehensive Physical Distribution Policy stipulates that Japan should manage the progress in the program using a Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle and should modify the program as necessary through review of the program.
In accordance with this, METI reviewed the implementation status of all 99 measures upheld in the program to uncover progress after the formulation of the program and revised the program as necessary to meet current situations while taking into consideration the opinions offered by the related private associations. In addition to this revision, METI added seven new measures to the program.
On March 28, 2019, the Comprehensive Physical Distribution Policy Promotion Council, a body operated by the Joint Secretariat of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and METI and of the Directors General and other officials of relevant ministries and agencies, decided on two compilations: the Implementation Status of Efforts Upheld in the Program for Advancing the Comprehensive Distribution Policy and the Program for Advancing the Comprehensive Distribution Policy (Revised Version). METI hereby announces them.
