April 18, 2019
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) hereby announces that on April 18, 2019, the Visual Industry Promotion Organization (VIPO) started a call for applicants for the indirect subsidy project involving development and demonstration of systems for distribution of contents taking advantage of blockchain technologies. This project is part of the Subsidy Project of the Japan Content LOcalization and Distribution (J-LOD) under the FY2018 Secondary Supplementary Budget.
1. Outline of the subsidy project
On April 18, 2019, the VIPO, an organization adopted by METI as an operator or directly subsidized entity of the Subsidy Project J-LOD under the FY2018 Secondary Supplementary Budget, started a call for applicants for indirectly subsidized entities under the Subsidy Project J-LOD.
This subsidy project aims to: encourage businesses to introduce systems for distribution of contents taking advantage of blockchain technologies; and bring about new value added to distribution markets for contents, such as creation of new markets for contents whose economic value is not uncovered yet, and establishment of a system in which benefits derived from creation of contents are appropriately distributed to persons involved in the creation. Through these efforts, METI aims to establish an ecosystem in which the content industry will sustainably develop.
2. Call for applicants for the subsidy project
Period of the call: From April 18 (Thur.) to May 31 (Fri.), 2019
Note: The VIPO will sequentially send the results of the call to all applicants between early and mid in June 2019.
