May 16, 2019

On June 4 (Tue.) and 5 (Wed.), 2019, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency (SMEA) and the Japan Management Association (JMA) will jointly hold a series of events titled “Fair for Encouraging SMEs to Take Advantage of the Reduced Tax System and Introduce Cashless Payment Systems” at eight venues across Japan, starting the first event in Tokyo. The fair aims to encourage SMEs to take advantage of the reduced tax rates in line with the new consumption tax system and introduce cashless payment systems.

1. Outline of the fair

The fair will focus on the start of the reduced tax rates in line with the new consumption tax in October 2019 and the Project for Encouraging Businesses to Introduce Cashless Payment Systems and Pass on Benefits to Consumers, and based on this, it will provide expert lectures to provide useful information on SME management, showcase exhibition booths by manufacturers of cash registers and cashless payment companies and prepare explanation or counseling counters to provide information on how to apply for the various subsidy projects. Through these opportunities, METI will support businesses that need to make efforts to take advantage of the reduced tax rates and those that intend to introduce cashless payment services.
