Symposium for Smart Mobility Challenge to be Held

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) will hold a symposium, aiming to collaborate and share information with municipalities and companies that intend to adopt new mobility services.
1. Purpose of the symposium
In April 2019, METI and MLIT have jointly started a new project titled “Smart Mobility Challenge,” aiming to solve challenges in mobility and support rural areas and companies that are taking on the challenge of the vitalization of such areas through public implementation of new mobility services.
METI and MLIT will hold this symposium as a kick-off event for the project. The symposium will: announce selected regions and projects to be supported under the Project for the Analysis of Pilot Areas led by METI, and the Project for the Promotion of New Mobility Services led by MLIT; explain efforts by member municipalities and companies in the Council for Promoting the Smart Mobility Challenge Project; and hold a networking opportunity.
2. Outline of the symposium
Date and time: June 21 (Fri.), 2019, from 13:00 to 16:00 (The reception counter will open at 12:00.)
Venue: BASE Q, sixth floor of Tokyo Midtown Hibiya
Expected participants: Personnel responsible for mobility and transportation in municipalities or companies, experts in these fields and the press
How to apply: If you wish to attend the symposium, please complete the registration form on the following website for the Smart Mobility Challenge campaign. The closing date for registration is June 5 (Wed.), 2019.
Notes:
1. If the number of applicants exceeds the capacity, the secretariat of the symposium will strictly select applicants by lottery and notify the selected applicants by mail, by June 14, 2019.
2. Up to two applicants can be registered per organization. Please note that in some cases, only one person may be permitted to attend the symposium as a result of the lottery.
3. Seating will be available for the press. If you are a member of the press and wish to attend the symposium, please complete the registration form any time before the holding of the event.
