At the 165th General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) held in Paris on May 28 (Tue.), 2019, Japan reported the progress in its preparations for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
On May 28 (Tue.), 2019, the 165th BIE General Assembly was held at the OECD Conference Centre in Paris. At the assembly, in addition to regular briefings by the BIE committees, some delegates reported the progress in their preparations for their future expositions, including Expo 2020 Dubai, Expo 2023 Buenos Aires and Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
2. Details of Japan’s briefing on Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai
Mr. Sadayuki Sakakibara, Ambassador for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, reported the progress in Japan’s preparations for the exposition that has been made since the convening of the BIE General Assembly in November 2018, when the BIE determined Japan as the host country for the World Expo in 2025. He notified that Japanese government appointed Mr. Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry as the Minister in charge of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, and Mr. Sakakibara as the Ambassador for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai in December 2018. Moreover, he notified the establishment of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Expo in January 2019, and the Act on Special Measures Necessary for Preparing for and Managing the International Expo in 2025 in April 2019.
