Organizer of World Expo 2025 designated under the Act on Special Measures Necessary for Preparing for and Managing the World Expo 2025

On May 31, 2019, the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry designated the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition as the organizer of the expo under the provisions of Article 14 (1) of the Act on Special Measures Necessary for preparing for and managing the World Expo 2025.

Article 14 (1) of the Act on Special Measures Necessary for Preparing for and Managing the International Exposition in 2025 stipulates that the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry should designate only one general incorporated association or general incorporated foundation across Japan, which is found as a body qualified to appropriately and reliably provide services involving preparations for or management of the international exposition to be held in 2025 (hereinafter referred to as “services for the World Expo 2025”), upon filing an application by the association or foundation, as the organizer of the expo.

On May 24, 2019, the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition (corporate number: 9120005020700) filed an application to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry for requesting designation as a legal body providing services for the World Expo 2025.

Based on the results of an examination, the association was found to be qualified to appropriately and reliably provide services for the World Expo 2025. Accordingly, on May 31, 2019, the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry designated the association as the organizer of the expo under the Act.
