Series of Seminars on Incorporating Foreign Human Resources into the Manufacturing Industry to be Held

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will hold a series of seminars on hiring foreign human resources with specified skills, targeting companies in the manufacturing industry thinking about hiring such human resources by taking advantage of the new system for acceptance of foreign human resources under the Revised Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act. These seminars will provide opportunities for participants to gain information and know-how necessary for companies to provide a variety of support programs for such human resources.

1. Overview

Regarding the sectors under the jurisdiction of METI, the new system targets three sectors in the manufacturing industry: [i] the machine parts and tooling, [ii] industrial machinery manufacturing, and [iii] electric and electronic information-related sectors, and these sectors have started incorporating foreign human resources certified into Category 1 of the Specified Technical Skills under the new system. Against this backdrop, METI will hold a series of seminars in nine cities across Japan, aiming to help companies in the manufacturing industry smoothly incorporate these human resources. These seminars will provide opportunities for participants to gain information and know-how a necessary for companies to provide a variety of support programs for such human resources.
