On July 31 (Wed.), 2019, Mr. Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a meeting in Tokyo with H.E. Dr. Uttama Savanayana, Minister of Finance, Kingdom of Thailand.
Minister Seko expressed his congratulations to Minister Uttama for his recent appointment as Minister of Finance under the new Thai administration, following on from his previous post as Minister of Industry. Minister Seko also stated Japan’s intention to continue to enrich Japan-Thailand cooperation, collaborating with Minister Uttama.
Minister Uttama expressed his gratitude for Japan’s past cooperation with Thailand and stated that the new Thai administration will continue to carry out the policies which the previous administration stipulated.
The two ministers confirmed that Japan and Thailand will advance cooperation on upgrading industrial structure, the development of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and other projects in Thailand. Moreover, they also confirmed that the two countries will collaborate in ASEAN-related issues, taking into consideration that Thailand serves as the ASEAN chair in 2019.
