The Japan Patent Office (JPO) and the Tohoku Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry have been advancing an event titled “General Election for Outstanding Regional Brands in the Tohoku Region,” aiming to call public attention to regional brands and further vitalize the regional economy by taking advantage of the Regional Collective Trademark System. As part of this effort, on September 2 (Mon.), 2019, university students in the region will start conveyance of the attractiveness of regional goods and services through their SNS Instagram (TM) accounts based on the results of their interviews with trademark right holders and other organizations that have registered their goods or services under the Regional Collective Trademark System.
