Briefing session on the current status of multi-nuclide removal equipment (ALPS)-treated water at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station

1. On Wednesday, September 4, the Government of Japan organized a briefing session on the current status of multi-nuclide removal equipment (ALPS)-treated water at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station for all diplomatic missions in Tokyo at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

2. At the outset, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the Government of Japan has continuously been providing all the diplomatic missions in Tokyo with information including the status of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station since the Great East Japan Earthquake, noting the fact that the briefing today marks the 103rd session, as well as Japan’s efforts to promptly and actively provide necessary information at international conferences such as the IAEA meetings. The Agency for Natural Resources and Energy also explained the current situation of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, referring to the latest discussions at the 13th Subcommittee on Handling ALPS Treated Water.

3. The Government of Japan intends to continue to explain in a courteous and transparent manner the information regarding the situation of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station to the international community in collaboration with all related Ministries and Agencies.
