JETRO Releases Collection of Successful Case Examples of Overseas Business Development as Effort under the Consortium for New Export Nation Program

Best practices of 100 successful companies developing business overseas

Under its Consortium for New Export Nation Program,* the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), in collaboration with the support organization participating in the program, has been supporting overseas business development by Japanese mid-ranking enterprises and SMEs that intend to cultivate new global markets and expand their business scale. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) hereby announces that JETRO compiled a Collection of Successful Case Examples of Overseas Business Development as its first reference publication explaining best practices of successful companies that have embarked on overseas business development by taking advantage of the program.

The collection presents articles of interviews with business operators and personnel in charge of 100 Japanese mid-ranking enterprises and SMEs that have embarked on overseas business development by taking advantage of the program and explains 100 case examples featuring the approaches that such companies have taken to overcoming their business challenges. The collection on difficulties that many SMEs face due to shortages of human resources, goods, capital, and information, and to approaches for overcoming these challenges for business success.

Bringing together regional company support organizations across Japan, e.g., governmental organizations, regional financial institutes and chambers of commerce and industry, as members, this program serves as a framework for providing mid-ranking enterprises, SMEs and other entities that intend to embark on overseas business development with comprehensive support measures.

METI, in collaboration with JETRO, will continue to provide mid-ranking enterprises and SMEs with information on EPA and other data and will proactively support such companies across Japan that intend to embark on overseas business development by taking advantage of the program.
