Winners of the FY2019 Awards for Resources Recirculation Technologies and Systems Selected

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) hereby announces the winners of the FY2019 Awards for Resources Recirculation Technologies and Systems, an award program supported by METI.

A commendation ceremony will be held on October 18 (Fri.), 2019, at the Kikai Shinko Kaikan building, from 10:00 a.m. Following the ceremony, winners will deliver presentations on their achievements.

1. Purpose and outline of the program

This awards program was launched in 1975, with the aim of extensively calling for and recognizing outstanding projects and efforts by companies and other industrial groups with excellent technologies that contribute to waste reduction, reuse and recycling, thereby encouraging and fostering such efforts and creating new business. The program is organized by the Japan Environmental Management Association for Industry (JEMAI; Corporate number: 7010005008147), with the support of METI.

2. Details of the applicants and the examination process

JEMAI started accepting entries in January 2019 by sending application guidance to municipal governments, chambers of commerce and industry, and major industry associations across Japan, while also making the guidance available on its website. During the entry period, which ended on April 15, 2019, JEMAI received 10 entries from a variety of areas in Japan.

The examination committee of experts (chairman: Dr. Takashi Nakamura, Emeritus Professor, Tohoku University) examined the entries and chose the winners of the METI Minister’s Award, the Award of the Director-General of the Industrial Science and Technology Policy and Environment Bureau, the JEMAI Chairmen’s Awards, the Encouragement Awards and the Collaboration Awards.

4. Commendation ceremony

The FY2019 commendation ceremony will be held on October 18 (Fri.), 2019, at the Kikai Shinko Kaikan building (3-5-8 Shibakoen, Minato Ward, Tokyo), from 10:00 a.m.

Following the ceremony, winners will make presentations on their achievements.
