Joint Commendation Ceremony Held for Winners of the FY2019 Awards Program for Promoting Informatization and the U-22 Programming Contest 2019

On October 21, 2019, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) honored the winners of METI Minister’s Awards for the FY2019 Awards Program for Promoting Informatization and the U-22 Programming Contest 2019.

1. Outline of the Awards Program for Promoting Informatization

METI has been recognizing individuals, companies and other entities that have played leading roles or achieved outstanding goals in various fields: research and development of advanced information processing technologies, development of human resources with advanced IT skills, introduction of IT into companies left behind in IT utilization, securing safety in information processing, and other efforts for informatization. This awards program has been held continuously since 1972. This fiscal year will be the 48th such occasion.

2. Outline of the U-22 Programming Contest

The U-22 Programming Contest aims to create Japan-oriented innovations and support the youth in playing leading roles all over the world. This contest is organized by the Executive Committee of the U-22 Programming Contest with the secretariat established in the Computer Software Association of Japan (abbreviated name: CSAJ). As an effort for supporting the contest, METI has been honoring outstanding entries with the METI Minister’s Awards and the Awards of the Director-General of the Commerce and Information Policy Bureau.
