The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will hold a series of seminars on hiring foreign human resources with specified skills, targeting companies in the three sectors, shown below, in the manufacturing industry considering taking advantage of the new system for hiring foreign human resources under the Revised Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act. These seminars will provide opportunities for participants to learn information and details on the system necessary for companies to provide a variety of support programs for such human resources.
Regarding the industries under the jurisdiction of METI, the new system targets three sectors in the manufacturing industry: [i] machine parts and tooling, [ii] industrial machinery manufacturing, and [iii] electric and electronic information-related sectors. These sectors have begun hiring foreign human resources certified as those falling under Category 1 of the Specified Technical Skills system. As of the end of October 2019, the number of foreign workers who have been hired and have started working has come to 196 in these three sectors in the manufacturing industry.
Following on from the previous series of seminars, METI will hold another series of seminars, as below, on hiring foreign human resources in five cities across Japan, aiming to help companies in the manufacturing industry thinking of hiring foreign workers in a smooth and efficient manner. These seminars will provide opportunities for participants to learn: knowledge of the new system involving foreign human resources with specified technical skills and other necessary knowledge, information on practical procedures for filing requests, case examples of companies that have successfully hired foreign human resources with specified technical skills and other information.
