The Seventh Japan-Korea Export Control Policy Dialogue Held

On December 16th, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) held the Seventh Japan-Korea Export Control Policy Dialogue with the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE). During the Dialogue, experts from the two sides exchanged views on circumstances and challenges regarding critical technology control and their export control systems. Both sides agreed to continue the Dialogue and communications in order to contribute to resolving issues of concern.

On December 16th, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) held the Seventh Japan-Korea Export Control Dialogue at METI.

During the Dialogue, experts from the two sides exchanged views on circumstances and challenges regarding critical technology control and their export control systems including conventional arms catch-all systems and classification of listed items in order to contribute to exploring resolution of issues of concern, as announced on November 22nd. As a result, both sides could mutually enhance understandings on export control systems each other.

With respect to the current international security environment, both sides share the view that it is necessary to continue promoting effective export controls within their areas of responsibility and discretion.

Furthermore, both sides agreed to continue the Dialogue and communications in order to contribute to exploring resolution of issues of concern including by further updating status of export control systems and their implementations. The next Dialogue will be held in the near future in Seoul.
