Meeting as Opportunity to Receive Opinions from Concerned Parties to be Held Concerning Handling ALPS Treated Water

March 30, 2020

Concerning handling of multi-nuclide removal equipment (ALPS) treated water at TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, purified thorough ALPS and other equipment, the Subcommittee on Handling of the ALPS-Treated Water held a series of comprehensive discussions from November 2016 on such water, including potential negative impacts on society (e.g., reputational damage) and compiled the discussion results into a report in February, 2020. In response, based on the report, the government will hold a meeting as an opportunity to receive opinions from a wide variety of concerned parties, including representatives of local municipalities and associations in the fields of agriculture, forestry and fisheries as an effort towards determining the government’s policies for approaches to handling ALPS-treated water.
